ONLINE EDUCATION

The spread of Corona virus led to close down of college and classes had to be stopped midway. Google meet platform is used to teach the students and review their progress for both the undergraduate and postgraduate students. For the undergraduates theory classes for 3 hours consisting of 2 lectures are conducted everyday. We include guest lectures from teachers outside college for variation in teaching and improving knowledge. Video demonstrations are regularly presented. Seminars are conducted with students asked to present short topics. Theory Tests and MCQ test are conducted through google meet. Small group discussions between mentors and mentees are also conducted. Postgraduate students present seminars and journal clubs and group discussions are also conducted. Their dissertation discussions are done. Library dissertations are presented by the students and corrections done. Monthly staff meetings of the department are organised and plan for the month charted through google meet.

CLINICAL ACTIVITIES DURING COVID-19 PERIOD

Dental Clinics started functioning initially with only diagnosis and medications in the oral medicine and dental radiology department. After comprehending the safety measures required during this unprecedented period, all the departments started functioning, providing essential oral health care to patients following all the safety precautions and disinfection protocol as per NABH guidelines supervised by Bio- safety committee of the institution.

The faculty and the post graduate students were briefed and illustrated about the essential safety measures that have to be followed while treating patients. Initially treatment procedures were restricted to emergency management of dental pain predominantly. Later all routine procedures have been undertaken with utmost precautions. Hand hygiene by washing, use of sanitizers and temperature check are mandatory for all patients before registering. Hand sanitizers are provided in all departments. All staffs were provided with protective gear to treat patients. The Bio-safety committee provided necessary guidance and training for the faculties, non-teaching staffs and PG students.

The institution follows the directives of the state government, mandates by the university and ordinances from the DCI and is functioning smoothly for the benefit of the students and patients.
