ABOUT US
The Department Of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics at Tagore Dental College provides education to develop competent diagnosticians and clinicians in the field of dentistry that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases involving the dental pulp and the tissues at the root apex. We also exclusively deal with conservative and aesthetic management of tooth deformities. We are armed with latest equipments like Operating Microscopes, LASER, rotary endodontic instruments including all latest file systems, Loupes , Radiovisiography, Intra oral cameras, Apex locators, LED for Aesthetic treatments, Ultrasonic micro surgical kits, Thermo plasticized GP systems, Fully installed Ceramic laboratory etc. Exclusive cosmetic treatments like Veneers, Bleaching, Mid- line Diastema closure, Laminates, All Ceramic crowns, Tooth colored restorations etc are done in well sophisticated atmosphere under concerned expert supervision. The endodontic faculty teaches a full scope of clinical and didactic endodontic subjects to second, third and final year under graduates and post graduate students. Our core competencies are Restorative procedures, Endodontic procedures, Aesthetic procedures, Pre Clinical undergraduate teaching, Post graduate teaching and Research in the specialized field.

Dr. S.M. Venkatesan, MDS
Head of Department of Conservative Dentistry & EndodonticsDr. S.M Venkatesan is the Head of Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics. He has completed his undergraduation and post-graduation from Ragas Dental College & Hospital. He has over 16 years of academic experience with 20 years of clinical experience. His field of interest is periapical surgery, smile designing life member of IDA, CEAT and IACDE. He is EC member and CDE program convener in Conservative & Endodontics Association of TamilNadu. He also has over 25 indexed publications to his name. He has given various lectures for undergraduates and presentations for post-graduates in various colleges. Guided various research projects for undergraduates and postgraduates.
Dr. G. Shankar Narayanan, MDS
ProfessorDr. G. Shankar Narayanan is Professor in the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. He has completed his undergraduation from Savetha Dental College & Hospital and post-graduation from Ragas Dental College & Hospital. He has over 16 years of experience in this field. His field of interest is cosmetic dentistry and magnification. He has 25 number of National and International Publications to his credit. He is EC member and CDE program convener in Conservative Endodontics Association of TamilNadu. He is EC member of IDA, Madras branch, lifetime member of IACDE and IES. He is an editor and reviewer in various national journals. He has completed patents and has guided various research projects for undergraduates and postgraduates.
DR. C.S. SHOBANA, MDS.,
READERDr Shobana Shekar, currently working as Reader in the department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Tagore Dental College. She has completed her BDS from SRM Dental College, Ramapuram and MDS in the speciality of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics from The Tamilnadu Government Dental College in 2016. She has done her Masters in Health sciences in Public Health from Annamalai University and PG Diploma in Biostatistics from Madurai Kamaraj University. She has completed her fellowship in LASER from LASER INDIA ACADEMY. She secured the 8th rank in the Tamilnadu postgraduation state entrance. She has national and international publications to her credit. She was the college topper in her undergraduation and is the recipient of the Tamilnadu Dr MGR Medical University gold medal for securing the highest mark in the MDS examinations. She has many awards to her credit which include the young talent award conferred by the Indian association of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics for securing the second position in the national level in the speciality; the best speaker award in the Evidence based discussion in Tooth prints convention conducted by Saveetha Dental college; the young talent award and Young achiever award conferred by the Conservative and Endodontics Association of Tamilnadu in 2018 and 2020 respectively. She is the first runner up in the national level “Sculpt and Win” competition conducted by GC India.
Dr. N. Raghunathan, MDS
READERDr. N. Raghunathan is a Reader in the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. He has completed his undergraduation from Sree Balaji Dental College & Hospital and post-graduation from Ragas Dental College & Hospital. He has over years of experience in this field. He has various National and International Publications to his credit. He is a member of IACDE, CEAT and IDA. He is an editor and reviewer in various national journals. His field of interest is managing complex root canal anatomies, micro-endodontics and esthetic procedures.
Dr. R. Ashwin, MDS
READERDr. R. Ashwin is a Reader in the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. He has completed his under-graduation from Sree Balaji Dental College & Hospital and post-graduation from Ragas Dental College & Hospital. Currently pursuing PhD from SRM Dental College & Hospital, Kattangulathur, Chennai. He has over years of experience in this field. He has authored & co-authored scientific publications in peer reviewed national and international journals. He is a member of CEAT and IACDE. He has multiple patents and has guided various research projects for undergraduates and postgraduates. His field of interest is calcified canal management, instrument retrieval and periapical surgeries.
Dr. M. Anisha Sebatni, MDS
READERDr. M. Anisha Sebatni is a Reader in the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. She has completed her under-graduation from Sri Venkateswara Dental College and post-graduation from Rajas Dental College. She has over 8 years of teaching experience. She has authored over 29 publications in reputed indexed journals, delivered guest lectures at prestigious platforms. She has presented scientific papers at several national and international forums. She is a lifetime member of IACDE and IES. She has guided various research projects for undergraduate and postgraduate research.
Dr. Nikesh S
Senior lecturerDr. Nikesh S is a senior lecturer in the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. He pursued his under graduation from Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Dental Science. He has completed his post-graduation from Chettinad Dental College & Hospital. He has a patent and is a lifetime member of IACDE and CEAT. His field of interest is biomimetic restorations, instrument retrieval and microendodontics.
Dr. Dinesh Aravind V, MDS
Senior LecturerDr. Dinesh Aravind is a senior lecturer in the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. He pursued his under graduation from SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital, Chennai and post-graduation from Ragas Dental College & Hospital. He has secured academic topper awards during his second, third and final years of under graduation period. His field of interest include biomimetic restorative dentistry and bonded restorations.
Dr. Badrinath T, MDS
Senior LecturerDr. Badrinath T is a senior lecturer in the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. He pursued his under graduation from Sree Mookambika Institute of Dental Science, Nagercoil. He has completed his post-graduation from Tagore Dental College & Hospital. He is a life time member of IACDE, IDA, IAFO and ADAI. His field of interest is complex root canal treatment and curved canal management.
Dr. S.G Vishnu Prasanna, MDS
Senior LecturerDr. S.G Vishnu Prasanna is a senior lecturer in the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. He pursued his under graduation from Saveetha Dental College and Hospital, Chennai. He has completed his post-graduation from Ragas Dental College & Hospital. He is a member of CEAT and IACDE. His field of interest is rubber dam isolation and regenerative endodontics. He has over 19 indexed publications.
Dr. Geethanjali J, MDS
Senior LecturerDr. J. Geethanjali is a senior lecturer in the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. She pursued her under graduation from Ragas Dental College and Hospital, Chennai. She has completed her post-graduation from SRM Dental College & Hospital. She is a member of IACDE and ISPRP. Her field of interest is minimal intervention dentistry.
