ABOUT US
The Tagore Dental College & Hospital and the Department of Orthodontics was founded in 2007 with the goal of offering graduate study in Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics. Since its inception it has been engaged in research, teaching and patient care. The graduates of this institution have contributed greatly to the development of dentistry's oldest specialty.
The Department occupies a 6200 square-foot location on the Second floor of the College of Dentistry building at Tagore Group of Institutes in Rathinamangalam. Facilities include a modern Orthodontic clinic (UG & PG) and clinical laboratory; Sterilization areas; Computer, Data-processing, Library; photography room, appliance construction and plaster work area; seminar room; faculty offices; Reception and Waiting area.
The Department of Orthodontics at Tagore Dental College Hospital is equipped with state of the art infrastructure and equipments for imparting knowledge to the Post- Graduates on the use of latest equipments and giving them an exposure to the latest trends in Orthodontics.
TREATMENT OPTIONS
As far as Orthodontics is concerned, we deal with individuals as early as 6-7 yrs to identify & recognize any developing skeletal abnormalities and preventively treat them so that it will turn out to become a problem.
And if the individual fails to visit the clinician at an early stage of the skeletal abnormality, then we have treatment options to modify & correct those skeletal and dental abnormalities.
Further we have various treatment options for adults ranging from removable appliances to fixed appliances. In adult individuals where skeletal abnormalities are present, Orthodontics along with Orthognathic Surgeries can bring great improvement in their lifestyle.
With the advent of Micro Implants the sphere of impact, to treat challenging malocclusions, has widened.

Dr Navaneetha Nambi MDS
PROFESSOR AND HODDr Navaneetha Nambi MDS working as PROFESSOR AND HOD OF ORTHODONTICS department at tagore dental college& hospital, currently holding 14 years of experience in clinicals, academic and research activities. Have been a post graduate guide for past 8 years. In the field of orthodontica, area of expertise are PEA, functional and orthopedics in growth modification, myobraces,lingual orthodontics, bone screw assisted ortho, Aligners, self ligating ortho etc. Have 15 national and international publications to the credit and have authored chapters in 2 books. Have also guided PhD candidates for past 4 years.
DR.BALAJI KRISHNAN
PROFESSORDr.BALAJI KRISHNAN is a PROFESSOR in the department of Orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics and has served as the head of the department for the past 15 years. He has over 23 years of experience in this field. He is a part of this institution from 2008. He has delivered lectures on numerous international platforms, to name a few being the World Federation of Orthodontics - WFO conference at Sydney, FDI conference held in Dubai and in Singapore. He has served as the executive committee member of the Indian Orthodontic Society for seven years and served as the Treasurer of Indian orthodontic society for four years. He is one of the few members in India to undergo TMJ training program directly from the Roth-William Foundation for 2 years, under the guidance of Dr. Williams. His special interests are TMJ & lingual orthodontics. Specialized in in-house aligners and has conducted numerous hands on courses on in-house aligners.He has innumerous numbers of National and International Publications to his credit reflecting his commitment to research and academic excellence. He is also trained in Directed printed aligner from Graphy inc, Seoul, South Korea.
Dr. R. Rajesh
Associate professorDr. R. Rajesh is an Associate professor in the department of Orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics. He has over 9 years of experience in this field. His field of interest is aligners. He has a number of 7 National and International Publications to his credit.
Dr.Mahalakshmi.K
ProfessorDr.Mahalakshmi.K is a Professor in the department of Orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics. She has over 11years of experience in this field. Her field of interest is Direct printed Aligners,Accelerated Orthodontics,TAD,Growth Modification appliances,Lingual Orthodontics and TMD.She has around 20 National and International Publications to her credit.Has authored 2 books and have contributed about 8 chapters in text book.
Dr. Deepak P
Associate professorDr. Deepak P is an Associate professor in the department of Orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics. He has over 6 years of experience in this field. His field of interest is Aligners, TAD’s, Basic biomechanics in orthodontics. He has a number of 11 National and International Publications to his credit. Also trained in Directed printed aligner from Graphy inc, Seoul, South Korea
Dr. Mugilan
Assistant ProfessorDr. Mugilan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics at Tagore Dental College and Hospital. With over three years of specialized experience, his clinical focus includes in-house aligners, myofunctional appliances, orofacial pain, and temporomandibular disorders (TMD). He has eight national and international publications in his field.
Dr. S. Aswini Soundharya
Assistant ProfessorDr. S. Aswini Soundharya is an Orthodontist and Assistant Professor at Tagore Dental College with over four years of clinical and academic experience. She specializes in accelerated orthodontics and clear aligner therapy, with a strong focus on delivering efficient, evidence-based, and aesthetically driven treatment outcomes.
She has authored 10 publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals, reflecting her commitment to research and academic excellence.
Dr. Aswini has received specialized training in in-house aligner systems and direct 3D-printed aligners, including Graphy aligner technology. She is also a certified Invisalign provider
Dr. Mohan kumar
Assistant ProfessorDr. Mohan kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics at Tagore Dental College and Hospital. With over three years of specialized experience, his clinical focus centers on in-house aligners, machine learning , orofacial pain and TMD. He has a number of 4 national publications in his field.
Dr. Vidhyashree M
Assistant ProfessorDr. Vidhyashree M is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics. She has over four years of experience in the field. Her areas of interest include aligners, TADs, and basic biomechanics in orthodontics. She has six national and international publications to her credit and has also been trained in direct-printed aligners from Graphy
Dr. Aanandhine UB
Senior LecturerDr. Aanandhine UB is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics with over one year of academic and clinical experience in the field.Her areas of expertise and special interest include aligner therapy, Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs), orthognathic surgery, growth modification appliances. She has attended intensive training program on treatment procedures in management of cleft patients from Meenakshi cleft and craniofacial centre.Dr. Aanandhine has contributed to the scientific community with three national and international publications to her credit. She has been recognized for her academic excellence and research contributions, receiving the Best Paper Presentation Award at the Indian Orthodontic Society Convention held in Lucknow in 2023.Additionally, she secured Second Place in the E-Poster Presentation at the 3rd National Symposium on Invisible Orthodontics -2024, conducted by the Indian Orthodontic Society, for her research on identifying the optimal attachment design for intrusion in clear aligner therapy.She is also a certified Invisalign provider.
Dr. Shanthini Priya
ReaderDr. Shanthini Priya is a Reader in the department of orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics. Completed her MDS Orthodontics and Dentofacial orthopaedics from Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and research, Chennai. Has special interest in practicing Lingual orthodontics. Specialized in in-house aligners and Invisalign. She has a number of 11 national and International publications to her credit.
Dr.Parameswaran
ReaderDr.Parameswaran is a Reader at department of orthodontics. Completed his MDS in Orthodontics and Dentofacial orthopaedics from SRM Dental College, Chennai. Has Special Interest in treating TMD cases and applying Artificial Intelligence to Orthodontics. He has conducted a research on the effect of probiotics on tooth movement and bone biology. He has also completed phase 1 & 2 of the Diplomate-Indian Board of Orthodontics. Won 1st place for best table in research in 56th IOC conference, Pune .Won Sandhya Seshadri award for second best research paper at 55th IOC Amritsar. One of the 8 international finalists & only Indian student selected to present of the Worlds first virtual orthodontic trainee research presentation conducted by Glasgow Orthodontic Academy (Edinburgh. UK) 2020. Contributed substantially for setting up In-house: aligner manufacturing, dental 3D Printing and digital processing of aligners at various institutions and private practice.Served as a resource person for multiple workshops in and around South India.Holds PubMed indexed Scopus indexed publications among other publications.
